One judge should not fundamentally change the Winnie decorating christmas tree winnie the pooh shirt moreover I love this court. 7 years just because it’s odd and kind of long 21 years feels like a good max unless term limits are designed to apply retroactively, which I don’t see happening, now is a profoundly stupid time to talk about term limits. Change my mind: unless you’re a subject matter expert that no one else can replace, your political position of power should be termed. All branches of Government need term limits NOW! The Founding fathers thought serving in government would be like Jury duty where it’s your civic duty. An elected position was NOT a place to get status, power, and money. Next time you’re selected for jury duty ask the defendant if he has money and insider stock trading tips to sway your vote on guilty or not guilty.

Pass federal law preventing gerrymandering and establishing guidelines for drawing up of voting districts for the Winnie decorating christmas tree winnie the pooh shirt moreover I love this nation as a whole Have them directly elected like the president, but prohibited from party primary or affiliation, with single term limit equal to ([number of justices] * 2) Every 4 years a new SC appointee should be nominated. That’s 36 years. Even if we did it every two years, that’s 16 years in the court. No public office from police & dmv clerks to President & Supreme Court justices should hold a position for longer than a determined amount of time. Simple fair amendment to the constitution- a president may replace one justice per term only. The longest serving jurist would be the one to replace. If you’re elected to two terms that’s two picks. No more forcing or coercing judges to retire or praying that they die There needs to be a hard limit of 18 years for federal elected positions. I think we also should have an 18 year limit on appointed positions like SCOTUS Justices or federal judges. IOW, you could do both in theory for a max of 36 years, but then you’re absolutely out. So if you want to be a Senator, you get 3 terms of 6 years, MAX. If you want to be a US Representative, you get 9 terms of 2 years, MAX. If you want to mix and match, fine, but you still have an 18 year ceiling. You could be a Rep for a couple terms then become Senator, but you just can’t cross the 18 year mark. And if things just didn’t match up perfectly for you and you somehow got elected as Senator with only a couple year left of your 18, well you would have to resign and let your state’s governor appoint your replacement until the next election, just like if there was a death or resignation. I think it would be extremely rare for someone to go from Congress to a federal judge or SCOTUS seat, but it could happen even now under current rules. Worst case, you could have an 18 year Congressional veteran that becomes a federal judge/justice with another 18 years to ago, and that would be a maximum of 36 years TOTAL. I think that still would be vastly superior to the unlimited Congressional terms and lifetime appointments on federal benches.
