There is zero long-term good that can come from expanding the Court. A far more elegant solution is that every justice gets a 18-year term and each president gets two appointments per four-year term. If a justice dies or retires while in that term, the current president gets to appoint an interim justice for the remainder of that 18-year term. Majority vote from Senate is all it takes to confirm. So, winning presidential races still matters and a 12-year stretch of one party owning the White House can turnover 2/3 of the seats and swing the court.
