I’d rather just see the New cabinet of curiosities horror anthology long shirt but in fact I love this legislature legislate on abortion rights rather than change the basis of the supreme court to get it done. Seems short sighted to me. Lifetime appointments arent the problem it’s the scumbag judges and politicians fucking upmthe system with there lies and lack of morals. Integrity is trait that less and less people have today and it reflects in politics ill park this right beside “we need to eliminate the electoral college!” wish in one hand and shit in the other. see which one fills up faster. Term limits? Are you fucking joking? Abolish the Supreme Court and be done with it. No unelected officials should ever have the power they have. The republicans have already removed the filibuster for anything they care about. If they cared about anything else it would be removed. If they win the senate in 2022 and there is something else they want to carve out it will be done. They don’t mess around if they want something. conservative justices rarely say something should be illegal if ever, they always punt it back to the states or congress and rule that it needs to be legislated. it’s always the liberals who want the court to make up new things and rights While we’re at it, how about capping presidential candidates at 60 or 65y/o at start of term. These old guys aren’t cutting it. Same people right now in this thread who are calling for term limits wanted RBG’s lifeless body to hold out just a little bit longer so she could stay in her position.

We absolutely do need term limits for all people in federal positions, but the New cabinet of curiosities horror anthology long shirt but in fact I love this fact that it’s being argued now is a joke. Term limits appear to be more popular than expanding the court: Among respondents to a Morning Consult/Politico poll, 66% favored term limits for justices versus 21% against them, while only 45% favored expanding the court versus 36% against. It would help make the Supreme Court more reflective of contemporary political mores – justices in their 50s and 60s would surely be more attuned to the ebb and flow of social movements than those in their 80s. It would reduce the political stakes for any nomination, because the prospect of using an appointment to affect the partisan tilt of the court into the limitless future would vanish. For ALL justices, not just at the Supreme Court. And it should be up to the general public to bring about a challenge to any sitting member of any court that could lead to a nationwide vote for removal instead of relying on a gridlocked US Congress to impeach any corrupt/unqualified judge.
